I know I specifically started this blog to spread good music, but I think everyone should also acquire at least a basic sense of intimidation when viewing Earth on a geologic scale. Climbing up the Old Woman Mountains with my classmates a repeating theme of immensity dominated my thoughts. Mountain chains are enormous and take tens of millions of years to form but they climb thousands of meters high against the force of gravity. The vertical motion generated is truly hard to wrap my head around unless I'm in the field surrounded by geologic formations.
